🧊🔧 Your Miloo e-bike, ready for winter: maintenance tips + free check-up
Winter shouldn't stop you from riding. With proper maintenance, your Miloo e-bike can handle cold, snow, and salt with ease. In this article, we’ll show you how to prepare your Beast for winter, prevent early wear, and extend its lifespan — while enjoying winter mobility, in the city or in the mountains.
Why winter maintenance matters
Cold temperatures, humidity and salt can damage your e-bike’s key components. Proper maintenance means safer rides, improved performance, and long-term durability — even in icy or wet conditions.
💡 A well-prepared e-bike means fewer breakdowns, longer battery life, and smoother, more enjoyable winter rides.
🛠️ 5 essential things to check before riding in winter
1. Tire pressure
- Cold air naturally reduces tire pressure.
- Properly inflated tires give better grip, more stability and fewer punctures.
2. Braking performance
- Cold and wet conditions affect braking.
- Check brake pads or discs and adjust the system if needed.
3. Chain & drivetrain lubrication
Salt damages your drivetrain. Clean it after every snowy ride and use a wet-condition chain lube to prevent rust.
4. Battery care – Protect & Recharge Smartly
Store your battery indoors as soon as the temperature drops below 10°C — even if the bike stays outside.
If you’re not riding until spring:
- Charge the battery to about 70% (2 to 3 hours of charging)
- Turn off the bike and remove the battery
- Store the battery in a dry place, with a stable temperature between 10°C and 20°C
- Recharge to 70% every 3 months to keep the battery in good condition
- Fully charge the battery before your first spring ride
❄️ Riding with Your Battery in Winter
- Riding in cold weather is perfectly possible (and even great for staying fit!).
- Range temporarily decreases in cold temperatures
- You’ll need to charge more often than in summer
- If the battery was charged in low temperature (5°C or less), range will be shorter
- Charging at room temperature restores full performance
- Never ride at temperatures below -20°C
🔌 Charging the Battery in Winter
- Always charge the battery at room temperature.
- If the battery is cold (stored outside or after a winter ride):
- Let it naturally warm to room temperature
- Never use direct heat to warm it
- A properly tempered battery will perform better on your next ride
5. Visibility
Shorter days mean less daylight: check your lights, clean reflectors, and wear high-visibility clothing.

❓ FAQ

Why should I check my e-bike before winter?
To avoid cold-related breakdowns, keep your battery healthy and ensure safe braking and riding conditions.
What does cold weather do to lithium batteries?
Cold weather reduces lithium battery performance. To avoid losing range, remove the battery after rides and charge it at room temperature.
