How to Become a Winter Cyclist with Your Beast ❄️
Planning to ride your Beast this winter? Great idea – so are we! To take on Swiss roads safely, follow these 3 essential tips to make sure your e-bike is fully prepped for the cold season. If you're unsure, book your Winter Service today at one of our showrooms.

TIP #1 – Check Your Tire Condition and Pressure
Optimal Grip in Cold Conditions
Winter is tough on your tires. Cold temperatures, humidity, and sometimes black ice reduce grip significantly. Worn-out tires are a common issue for any e-bike owner. Over time, the tread wears down, making them less effective on the road. In winter, you need a softer rubber compound to maximize traction on cold pavement.
💡 For winter riding, choose tires with a softer compound and well-defined tread. If your tires have already been through a few seasons or feel stiff to the touch, it may be time to replace them. Consider upgrading your Beast with new winter-ready tires.
Recommended pressure for optimal grip:
- 26x4 ➝ 2.1 bar
- 27.5x3 ➝ 3.1 bar
- 24x4 ➝ 1.8 bar
(Pro tip: You’ll find the recommended pressure on the tire if you're unsure.)
🛞 What You Should Do:
If your tires are over 2 years old, or the tread is barely visible, stop by one of our showrooms for a free inspection by our expert mechanics. They'll quickly let you know if it’s time for a tire change.
TIP #2 – Reliable Brakes for a Safe Winter Ride
No matter the season, having fully functional brakes is essential — but it's even more critical in cold and wet winter conditions. Cold temperatures, moisture, and snow can increase your stopping distance. Worn or poorly adjusted brake pads can seriously compromise your safety.
🔎 Why Check Your Brakes in Winter?
- Humidity makes discs and pads more sensitive
- Squeaky or uneven braking can signal advanced wear
- Urban or hilly riding causes brake pads to wear out faster
🔧 What You Should Do:
If your brakes are noisy, if it’s been 600–800 km since your last pad change, or if you’ve noticed a loss of braking efficiency:
➡️ Stop by one of our Miloo showrooms for a full brake check, or book a Winter Service with our mechanics for expert advice and a safe ride through winter.
TIP #3 – Keep Your Chain Lubricated to Prevent Winter Rust
Cold, rain, and Swiss humidity significantly increase the risk of corrosion on the metal components of your electric bike — especially the chain.
A well-maintained chain = a bike that lasts longer
During winter, water, mud, and road salt can:
- Cause rust on your chain and cogs
- Make pedaling less smooth
- Lead to premature drivetrain wear
⛓️ What You Should Do:
- Clean and lubricate your chain every 100 km or after every wet ride
- Use a wet-condition-specific chain oil
➡️ Stop by a Miloo showroom for free maintenance advice, or book a Winter Service for a complete check-up of your Beast.
