🚀 Xplorer Beast: The Ultimate E-Bike Designed for Mike Horn
Miloo, a pioneer in high-end electric micro-mobility, continues to push the boundaries of electric bicycles with its latest model: the Xplorer Beast. Designed for unparalleled versatility, it combines the features of a high-performance mountain bike with the comfort and functionality of an urban bicycle.
To better understand this innovation, we spoke with Anna Bory and Daniel van den Berg, founders of Miloo, as well as Mike Horn, adventurer and co-developer of the project.
A New Generation of Electric Bikes
1 - Why was the Xplorer Beast created, and what was the objective behind this project?
Anna Bory*: One of Miloo’s key strengths is having its own distribution network, allowing us to stay close to our customers and truly listen to their needs. Over time, we noticed a growing demand for a versatile bike, capable of adapting to all terrains.
Our Classy Beast (25 km/h) and Mighty Beast (45 km/h) models were already well-established, but we were missing a bike that combines the performance of a mountain bike with the features and comfort of an urban bicycle.
Furthermore, since our mission is to convert as many car drivers as possible to electric biking, we must offer innovative and sustainable solutions.
The Xplorer Beast was born from this vision: an ultra-high-performance and eco-friendly e-bike, designed to encourage more motorists to switch to sustainable mobility. Thanks to its Battery Management System (BMS), it is fully energy-autonomous, capturing and optimizing electricity from multiple sources. It can be compared to a high-tech racing car on two wheels.
🔹 A true alternative to cars in both urban and rural environments
🔹 Unmatched power for the most demanding terrains
🔹 A design inspired by the automotive industry for superior ergonomics
An Exclusive Collaboration with Mike Horn
2 - You chose Mike Horn as the ambassador for the Xplorer Beast. Why this partnership?
Anna Bory: We were looking for a testimonial who embodies adventure, performance, and sustainability. Who better than Mike Horn, a world-renowned explorer, to represent this mindset? He is the perfect ambassador for this launch—especially as a Swiss icon himself.
Mike wanted an e-bike without limits, capable of withstanding the most extreme conditions while ensuring maximum energy autonomy. Together, we developed a bike that meets his expectations, featuring a 1,000 W/H motor with 160 Nm of torque, delivering exceptional power.
This collaboration successfully merged technology and adventure, resulting in the most advanced electric bike in its category.
A Cutting-Edge Motor and Battery
-
1,000 W/H motor – the most powerful and eco-friendly on the market
-
48V*21A = 960 Wh battery, extendable to 1,920 Wh with an additional battery
-
Ultra-durable carbon frame for optimized weight and stability
Sustainability at the Heart of the Project
3 - You mention ‘sustainability’ as one of your key development goals for this bike. What makes the Xplorer Beast a sustainable innovation?
Daniel van den Berg: One of Mike’s key requirements was the ability to travel with this bike on his next expedition, making autonomous charging an absolute necessity.
One of the biggest challenges in electric mobility is energy optimization and battery recycling. That’s why we worked tirelessly to integrate a groundbreaking innovation: the Battery Management System (BMS). This system allows the Xplorer Beast to capture, manage, and redistribute energy efficiently.
This system enables us to place a transformer within the bike, allowing it to capture energy from multiple sources and different formats. This technological breakthrough enables the bike to recover energy released during braking and harness solar energy through installable solar panels. The true challenge was integrating this energy conversion technology into the bike without compromising its performance.
Since we wanted to facilitate charging without relying solely on traditional electricity, the Xplorer Beast now has the ability to share its energy and battery with any other Miloo bike, regardless of the model.
Additionally, we have incorporated a special charging port on all our bikes, allowing users to add a secondary battery if needed. We are proud to say that MILOO is the only e-bike company offering these unique features, making for an unparalleled riding experience.
A Self-Charging E-Bike
✅ Regenerative braking energy recovery
✅ Charging via integrated solar panels
✅ Energy sharing with other Miloo bikes
The Xplorer Beast is much more than just an e-bike; it’s a true mobile energy station on two wheels.
A Powerful Yet Safe E-Bike
4 - With such power, doesn’t the Xplorer Beast compromise safety? How do you ensure optimal security on such a high-performance e-bike?
Daniel van den Berg: Power and performance should never come at the cost of rider safety. At Miloo, we designed the Xplorer Beast using the most durable materials and an engineering approach focused on stability and robustness.
Safety is an integral part of our DNA. As a Swiss company, we adhere to the highest Swiss quality standards. Additionally, all our bikes are assembled in Switzerland under our official “World Manufacturer ID Suisse” certification.
To ensure maximum resistance and reliability, we selected the most advanced materials capable of withstanding any potential impact.

The Xplorer Beast Put to the Test by Mike Horn
5 - Mike Horn, you have been an ambassador for various brands and have tested numerous bikes and e-bikes. What was the key factor that made you want to co-create your first e-bike with the young Swiss company Miloo?
Mike Horn: I had the opportunity to meet Anna and Daniel in Lausanne in 2022. Having tested numerous e-bikes from different brands in my daily life, I had always kept in the back of my mind the desire to develop my own bike.
With Miloo, we share the same DNA for adventure and entrepreneurship. Anna and Daniel were very open and attentive to my recommendations, working to develop an e-bike that truly stands apart.
The goal is to push this electric bike to its absolute limits. This winter, I will take it to one of the highest peaks in Switzerland to test its endurance and energy autonomy under extreme conditions. Then, I will take it on my next expedition, where it will have to operate in remote environments with no access to conventional electrical charging.
This challenge will demonstrate the Xplorer Beast’s ability to handle all terrains and extreme conditions.
My greatest pride is the more sustainable innovation we are offering through the BMS!
The Future of Mobility According to Miloo
6 - Anna Bory and Daniel van den Berg, how do you see sustainable and soft mobility evolving in the coming years?
Anna Bory & Daniel van den Berg: We are convinced that soft mobility is here to stay. More than just a trend, this transformation will become deeply rooted in urban habits. Today, we see more and more city dwellers giving up their cars in favor of electric and shared mobility solutions.
Just as the automobile revolutionized an entire generation, soft mobility is following the same path. When you understand this shift, you realize that major changes are coming, and we are only at the beginning.
A vehicle that is both "extra capable" and energy-autonomous is just one iteration of a visionary concept for 2023. In the future, many more innovations will redefine the landscape of soft mobility, and Miloo fully intends to be a key player in these radical changes and groundbreaking innovations.
Furthermore, the soft mobility industry cannot truly claim to be a sustainable solution unless it rethinks the issue of battery recycling.
Towards a Battery Rental Model?
The future of mobility is not just about bikes—it’s also about battery management.
We already offer a battery purchase service as well as a monthly or occasional battery rental service, which could ultimately replace traditional battery ownership.
We believe that future users will no longer own their batteries but will instead rent and exchange them, reducing waste and optimizing battery lifespan.
Conclusion: An E-Bike That Redefines Mobility
With the Xplorer Beast, Miloo and Mike Horn are pushing the limits of e-bike technology. Performance, energy autonomy, safety, and sustainable innovation—this bike is set to redefine electric mobility.
